Pyridoxal-5'- Phosphate is an active co-enzyme form of vitamin B-6 required in amino acid metabolism, sphingolipid biosynthesis and degradation, hemebiosynthesis, neurotransmitter biosynthesis, collagen formation and glucocorticoid action. Sub-normal activity of the enzyme pyridoxal kinase, low levels of zinc or magnesium or impaired membrane transport can cause a deficiency of Pyridoxal-5-Phospate. For vitamin B-6 dysfunctions, intestinal malabsorption and amino acid deficiency conditions or increased need for B-6 due to toxicities, infections or metabolic impairments. A complete B-Complex supplement should also be taken. SPECIAL PRODUCT NOTE: In cases of low inventory, we reserve the right to upgrade your order to the similarly formulated, physicians-grade version of this product (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) by Progressive Laboratories, Inc. Although this upgrade may be costlier for us, you will NOT incur an extra charge.*

This formula is a combination of pyridoxine hydrochloride and pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P, the coenzyme or "activated" form of B6). As P5P, vitamin B6 is extensively involved in the metabolism of amino acids, lipids and nucleic acids. Supplementation with vitamin B6 as P5P can be helpful for those unable to produce it efficiently from pyridoxine in the liver.* Excessive protein intake, alcohol or contraceptive use also indicates a greater need for vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 plays a crucial role in the multiplication of cells.
